Wing Windows: a very random topic

Here is a thread about wing windows that I got into with people on the web.  By joining healeys@autox.team.net, I met up with some fellow Healey owners who were able to discuss a problem I had with my wing window.  A special thanks to Paul Rogers and Ray Lynch for talking this through with me.

My car has replacement doors put together with parts found in part bins. It seems that I got wing windows from two different years of the same car. Back in 1978, how was I to know?

Now I have a parts manual and access to zillions of hours of expertise via email.

Here are pictures showing what I have, followed by copies of the parts manual showing what it should look like. Some pictures enlarge if clicked on, as referenced next to the picture.

The model changed at H-BJ7 20110. (mid 1963).

My car is model H-BJ7 23892, so technically, my passenger wing window is correct and my driverside wing window is incorrect.

But who's being technical?

Here is a page from my parts manual. Click on it to see it in full size. the pictures at the top and bottom show the wing window  assembly. (seen as a triangle on the long stem).

Replacement tip for  later model cars.

Now I need an earlier model tip, or a new wing window assembly.

How original do I need to be?

that is the question.
